The piece is a biographical narrative performance. The actress Berfin Zenderlioğlu conjures up the spirit of Eyşe Şan with her voice performance and thus takes the place of Eyşe Şan to tell her story.
Eyşe Şan (* 1938 in Diyarbakır; † 18 December 1996 in Izmir) was a woman who dedicated her life to music. For her, music was both freedom and resistance. In a patriarchal and feudal society, she fought her way as a woman and artist, which was full of challenges and obstacles; prohibition of the Kurdish mother tongue, censorship and the oppression of the state. With her voice and her beauty, she was always the centre of attention, but this also caused her problems. Nevertheless, she never gave up and mastered an impressive path for her music, which began in Diyarbakir and led via Istanbul, Baghdad and Erbil to Germany. She finally died in loneliness in Izmir.
In Kurdish with German surtitles.
